  1. if it is hot outside and his body is reacting normally, i would think he would be sweating.  that is the natural reaction for the body to cool itself down.  no sweating and a fever, i would be concerned.  depending upon the age of your child, it could be a number of things from teeth to a virus.  keep and eye on him, check his temp after the medicine wears off and if watch for other symptoms (crankiness, sneezing, coughing, etc.).  if you get more concerned contact your pediatrician or go to a local walk-in clinic.  you can check symptoms at this site, but do not use it as a substitute for taking your son to his doctor.

  2. Honey, if it's hot out, that's the reason for his temp.  I wouldn't advise giving him any fever reducers until after you've had him in for a while, given him cool fluids to drink, and possibly a tepid bath.  After drinking or bathing, you must wait 15 minutes to check his temp.  If it remains high, he probably does have a temp and you should administer the proper amount of fever reducer for his age/weight.

Then again, if he hasn't been outside and it's cool in your house, he may just have a temp.  But I wouldn't administer any meds until after the cool drink and tepid bath.  (Tepid bath is lukewarm water.)  Make sure to pour the water over his head, whole body.

I hope he's not getting sick, Darlin'.  It's summer!  They need to be out having fun!  God's blessings on you and yours...Always!

  3. yes if it is hot outside, his temp, will naturally go up, giving him a bath, is much better, then giving medicine, and make sure, he is drinking a lot, and helps to keep temp normal

  4. Is he sweating? Chances are his fever is a result of the hot weather, but that doesn't mean it's nothing. Do you have an airconditioned room in the house? If you do, you should make your son comfortable in there.

Put a cool cloth (if you can find BeKool patches or WellPatch migrain relief patches, they work really well and are unmedicated) on his forhead, and if you can, on the back of his neck. Make sure he get's plenty of fluids (Jell-O counts, so if that seems appealing to him, it might be a good option). I had a fever of 103.7 degrees Fahrenheit, so that's about 39.8 degrees celsius, and nothing brought it down except drinking ice water).

Check in on him often, and if his fever rises much higher it would be wise to call his doctor. It's important to be careful when it's hot outside because heat exhaustion and heat stroke can happen easily.

Good luck and hope your son is alright.
