My son takes zyrtec and has a rash on his legs, after being out in the weeds. Can I give him benadryl also?

I give him zyrtec in the morning, and wanted to give him the benadryl at night?

  1. Yes, you can.  They are both antihistamines, and will not interact (except to decrease histamine further) so go easy on the Benedryl (maybe use some SWAN calamine lotion to prevent itching -it's the best brand, in my opinion)

    AND ask your family doctor ASAP what is the maximum dose he can take at night if he takes the zyrtec each morning.


  2. Yes...but you an also use the topical Benedryl Spray...works great.

    Put an ice pack on rash, ice stops itching.

    Have him drink lots of water.

    Have him take only 1 Benedryl (I say this because I don't know how old your son is).

    Hope he feels better soon.
