Question:

My son wants advice talking to a girl?

My son recently revealed to me that he has a crush on a girl he goes to summer school with, and would like advice on what to say to her.

Normally I am confident on this subject, but this seems like a conflict of interest.

On the one hand:

- I would like him to be happy, and he is mature and responsible for his age. He has my trust.

- The girl he likes we have known forever, her family are all good friends of ours.

On the other hand they have an age difference, and I just don't know it seems weird taking love advice from your parent of the opposite gender. It would be like asking my dad how to talk to boys. o.O Would I just embarrass him by trying to talk about this? We are close, I don't know if there is a guy he would open up to enough to ask.

Thank you for your consideration. -_-

  1. Tell him to be himself. He should talk about things that they both might be interested in.

  2. It's even better for a female to tell him what to say to a girl, because I'm sure you have some idea what would be appropriate and not. How old are they both? It makes a huge difference what my answer would be xD If hes around 10 or so I would say just be nice to her and talk about interests, but ask her some questions, too. Girls like to talk ;D

  3. tell him to be himself, hasn't he met her before? if he has, then just tell him to pretend like he doesn't like her. hope i helped.

  4. He could ask her for help on homework, or you could help out and have the two families together for a barbeque or something. Give them the oppertunity to talk more. That might help him out.

    :)

  5. he can start out by asking her what she likes to do, type of music she listens to, maybe find something in common with her and talk about that. your lucky that your son talks to you, keep those communication lines open. I have to drag information out of my son and sometimes learn more about what he is up to from his friends parents and he is only 12.
