My son who is in 8th grade wants to skip school tomorrow, his last day because he gets out at 11am and is "not gonna do anything"- he has his 8th grade graduation tonight so I feel he really doesn't have to go tomorrow and he has worked so hard to get all his grades up and is such a great kid. I have to call him out tomorrow from school and don't know what to say?

  1. First of all - when your Mom knows about it then its not skipping school. Just call and say he isn't feeling well.

  2. I don't care if it is only a couple of hours~~~why are you allowing him to skip school and actually encouraging it by offering to call the school and LIE to them?? What is that teaching your son??

  3. Tell them that  your family is going on a summer vacation and your plane leaves at 9am or something! Its the last day of school....what more would he be doing! I bet half of the teacher won't even be there! lol

  4. sick !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...

  5. " my son, _________, will not be attending today due to excrusiating pain in his stomach?"

  6. Say he is sick. My mom forces me to stay home on the last day sometimes because it wasts gas.

  7. Just tell them " He is not feeling his best" Some of my friends skip the last day of school and nothing happens..I was going to but I wanted to go and say bye to all my friends before summer. I hope this helped.

  8. say that he's puking, but he's sorry and upset that he can't go on the last day.

  9. just let him its the last day and u dont have to call because its a half day im pretty sure half the school will stay home

  10. My last day was a month ago and my parents let me skip it.  Also our last day went all day not just to 11. By the way your son is absoulutly right, they will do NOTHING there last day.

Don't worry about what to tell the office a billion other kids will be skipping it to.

  11. I'd either call and tell them, "We're leaving for our trip to see the grandparents today"

    or else,

I'd just tell him to go to school until 11:00.  What the heck is the big deal.   :)

  12. "we have planned a trip to the moon, and we aciently scheduled our flying cow a day early"

it doesnt matter what you say, they cant do anything about it

  13. Don't say anything. It's a school day, he's not sick, he goes to school.

I mean, what next? What if next year he feels the last day before every holiday doesn't matter? What if it's the last week? What if he decides there's no point going to school on Fridays because he only has lessons he's not interested in then? If it's a school day he should go to school, and if you condone anything else you are starting down a very slippery slope.

  14. He's sick.... lol I don't see why on the last day of school he should have to attend.

  15. wellnif he is leaving 8th grade he should be there thats his last time in middle school, but if other people are going to leave school to then he should because no body not be there. but you have to make that decision on your own your the parent
