What forms to I fill out with the IRS, and who should I contact?

  1. You file a regular return (or amend your return) by hardcopy (paper).  THe IRS will ask both parties that claimed him to justify it.  You cannot, however, e-file.


  2. I  assume you should have claimed him?  There is nothing for you to do, simply file (as I assume you did) normally, and the IRS will discover the conflict when they finish processing both returns.

    At that point, they will contact both you and the other person and ask for proof of the claim.  Assuming you have the legitimate claim, they other person will be facing fines and possible charges.
