My son was diagnosed with Down Syndrome at 3 1/2 yrs old. As anyone else ever had such a late diagnosis?

Not all patients affected by Down's syndrome show the same characteristics. The syndrome is different in gravity in the various patients with some presenting symptoms which would qualify as borderline cases. (Although there is no such thing; genetically they have or they don't have DS). This is maybe the reason why your son was diagnosed so late. If this is the case you may expect him to be able to make significant advances in learning more than the average patient. All the best.

oh my gosh! that sounds like a very late diagnosis. out of curiosity, what prompted you to ask for a medical opinion at such a late stage? or did a doctor approach you? my thoughts are with you and your family xx

wow this is very late how did you get picked up so late ? were are you from ? we have a son with down syndrome  now 4
