  1. Most school districts have alternative programs for credit recovery. They vary widely; maybe check your district webpage to see what they have to offer.

Depending on the number of units missing (if it isn't many), many schools prefer to have the students take a 0 period or 7th period (depending on the number of classes offered during the day...they are extra periods) to make up units, or to forgo electives to make up units. In other words, they don't get to take Art until they have caught up on their Science credits.

Some districts do have an alternative high school. In our district, the student must have shown good attendance at their regular school for a certain length of time in order to attend the alternative...the district uses this as a way for the students to show they are committed to attending and getting things back on track.

Some schools have an on-site credit recovery system where the students attend in the evening for recovery.

Some districts collaborate with the local community colleges or adult education facilities to make up units. There is usually an age minimum, and the student must pay the same as the community does.

Hope that gives you some ideas...your district likely has some of these, or even more other options available. Good luck!
