  1. not true, it contains sugar!

  2. That is wrong. Don't waste your money.

Vitamin water is NOT a sports drink. Sports drinks are needed to replenish the body of electrolites along with water. Vitamin water is just water with some vitamins added.

Vitamin water falls into the category of companies taking advantage of the growing health conscious yet ignorant population.

As long as we get enough water and enough nutrtion from our diet and supplements like we should be doing then there is absolutely no reason to buy products that "add" stuff to them for no reason.

Milk has vitamin D, magnesium, and maganese added to it becsause those are needed to help your body process and use calcium. Antacids add calcium becasue antacides deplete your body of calcium. Those types of added nutrients to products are fine and necessary. There is absolutely no reason to add vitamins to water or cultures to yogurt.

Energy drinks and sports drinks have specific purposes and are reasonable to make and use. Vitamin water has no specific purpose but to fatten the pockets of the company that makes them.

  3. Vitamin water, gatorade, powerade, or any of those sports drinks are "quick fixes." They are good to drink during a game, however should not be permanent fixtures. Regular water should be consumed normally during the day, especially about 12-24 hours before a game. Sports drinks include added sugar, and sometimes electrolytes, which help the body to absorb the water  quickly and hydrate itself. Regular water takes longer for the body to absorb, but it is better than anything with added sugar and flavor.

So really, a sports drink would be good during the game, but at other times the main source of hydration should be plain old water!!

  4. Vitamin water is just a soft drink disguised as "water."  It contains loads of sugars.  Most Americans do get enough vitamins though, with a lack in Vitamin E.  Vitamin E, though, is a fat-soluble vitamin (along with D, K, and A), so drinking this vitamin in water will not help...you have to consume it in a meal.

  5. The vitamin waters are tastier and maybe have a little bit to their credit in that they are liquid. They do have quite a bit of sugars added, but not as much as gatorade and other sports drinks. And much much less than is in Energy drinks.

I actually think they are good in their place, but do think the coach is wrong in saying use them in place of water.

  6. A recent study said they don't have enough vitamins to make a difference.

  7. vitamin water has vitamins but i dont think its better it has way more fat and calories  and your bosy needs water to survive nithing is better fir you then regular water i would honestly rather my son drink gatorade at a game than vitamin water gatorade has the electrolites he might be losing.

  8. no , but propel is! it has only 25 calories per bottle, when vitamin water has WAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYY more!

  9. I know you asked about water but chocolate milk has been shown in a recent study to perform at the same level - and sometimes better than the sports drinks and protein shakes. It will supply you with things whether or not you're working out... it contains calcium that helps strenghten bones ,which is good for athletes and is more easily absorbed into the system than other sports drinks.Vitamin water has more sugar than regular water because it's sweetened and flavored...it contains 2 teaspoons of crystalline fructose. It's also considered to be a soft drink. Regular water is actually healthier than vitamin water.

    I hope this was helpful,Take Care!!! :)

  10. I think he meant for "charging up" after a game vitamin water is better, since it contains sugar and recoups all the energy lost during a game. But plain water is very important for regular hydration of the body. Drinking only vitamin water isn't gonna do you any good, the sugar is gonna make you fat and the chemicals will deteriorate your digestive system, that's all.

  11. Consider that Men's Health voted vitamin water the "worst healthy drink"--http://thisisnotadiet.org/2008/0...

There are much more effective ways to get vitamins, and more economical ways to stay hydrated (tap!  in a reusable bottle!)
