  1. All fish need a period of rest, they don't sleep as far as we do and start snoring, but the do have a period of inactivity and need darkness in order to do so.

Some fish have funny sleeping habits, many loaches such as the clown loach have given their owners a shock due to their habit of resting on their side - giving the impression that they're dead!

My bettas and endlers livebearers all go pale and sit on the substrate/nestled in crevices to rest, looking very disgruntled if someone comes home late after a night out and turns on the lights! You can see them glaring out at you.

  2. Yes they do only they don't have eyelids so they cannot close they're eyes and they appear to be awake

  3. kinda but not like a human.

it's just like the guy with the dog picture described

  4. YES, but they dont close there eyes because they dont have any eyelids.

  5. Yes, fish do sleep. But fish don't have eyelids so it doesn't look like they're sleeping.

  6. Fish don't sleep as far as humans sleep, but they do rest, where their bodily functions slow down. But, for all purpose sake, yes, you can tell your son they do sleep, in a way. Just not like he sleeps or you or I sleep.
