  1. This may seem callous but it isn't - just practical.

All you need to worry about is making sure he is receiving the best quality treatment available. Your son is 18. Even if he runs up 2 million dollars in medical bills he can declare bankruptcy and be free of his debts. However - some Drs will be hesitant to treat someone where they suspect they will not get paid for their services - so I would not worry about the medical bills but would instead be worrying about making sure he is getting the best treatment available.

Hospitals and most oncology clinics have offices dedicated to dealing with the many millions of uninsured people that need care. Go in and be friendly and see what they have to say. Hospitals have so much in free care they write off each year that allows them to overcharge the people who do have insurance. Make sure your son is receiving this care for which the bills will be written off.

Some states also have medical programs that pays for costs for indigent patients. Let us know what state your son lives in and hopefully someone can point you in the right direction.

Bone cancer is a life changing crisis for your son. Concentrate of making sure he has a good outcome.  good luck to you both

  2. there's nothing to worry about. just keep in touch with God with your prayers and God will do something about it. just believe

  3. Call the american cancer society.or redcrossor your state human resoarce center

  4. I don't know where you are, but Macmillan Cancer Support in the UK offer grants to support you. I received one when I was struggling financially.

  5. If you have health insurance and is living with you he may qualify under your policy even though he is 18 and no longer a student. Check into that first. I assume you are talking about his medical bills . . your son is considered a pediatric patient and may still qualify for your states Children with Special Needs programs. They can help you pay for some things. You should also be in touch with the pediatric teams oncological social worker who is familiar with locating funds in your local area. They will be able to tell you what he does and does not qualify for.

The ACS also has a page with online resources that you can check:

Health Insurance and Financial Assistance for the Cancer Patient

    http://www.cancer.org/docroot/MLT/conten...

You might also want to check your area for hospitals that provide the Hill Burton Program which is free or low cost healthcare assistance for those who qualify. Every US state has a hospital associated with the program and you can find a list of them online:

    http://www.hrsa.gov/hillburton/

Usually a social worker would be the best person to help your son and you out with this issue.

    Best of luck.
