Question:

My sons daycare teacher left him on a urine soaked mattress?

My 3 year old son goes to a daycare 3 days per week, Last Friday he came home crying and reeking of urine. I asked him what happened and he said he woke up from nap and wet his pants. He told me his teacher yelled at him and told him if he wanted to act "like an animal" then he could sit in it. She apparantly made him sit on the bed until the kids started activity (which is about 1 hr later) the told him to get up. She didn't change him or anything and when I picked him up 3 hours later he was still damp and the smell of urine was overpowering.

I confronted her about it yesterday and she claims he was lying, but I just don't see how or why a 3 year old child could even come up with that story, plus there's the issue of his soaked clothing.

Who should I go to to complain and get a satisfactory resolution? I'm furious, I do believe my son and I want this woman fired.

  1. go to the person who runs or owns the day care

  2. please do something, complain to the supervisor, tell them that you will notify the local news and do it if you can you might have to switch daycare but do not let them get away with this. they can not treat helpless children like that. my god this isn't an animal shelter, these ppl are getting paid to look out after these kids and not treat them like orphanages in 3rd world countries.

  3. There should be an administrator or supervisor of the daycare.  If there isn't then call the dept of family services in your area.  You can file a complaint and get the license of the teacher yanked.

I don't know about your state, but in the state of WI, that is a direct violation of the licensing codes of a daycare provider, and they could be in some serious trouble.

And for the record - three year olds don't "lie" in the same way kids do when they are older.  They will state they didn't do something when they actually did, but they are not of the thinking to create an entire story to cover something they did.  I think the teacher is the liar there, and she should have some serious trouble coming her way.

  4. Then my sons daycare teacher will have a broken nose.

    Management, then police.

That is not normal, and in no way acceptable. Kids have accidents, kids have problems. But kids don't make up stuff like that for no reason.

  5. Two words: Cooter punch.

  6. OMG!!!  That is HORRIBLE!!  A 3YR old is not able to come up with such a descriptive lie!  That woman needs to be reported for child abuse.  I would call the cops on her.

  7. Who's the boss of the daycare center?  Talk to her. Don't go in there demanding the teacher be fired, let the manager make that decision.  If they receive enough complaints about  teacher,  they will get rid of the teacher.

In the meantime, I would have your son transferred to another teacher's group or take him somewhere else for daycare.

  8. Maybe your day care son's teacher wants to teach him how to asked for the pot to urine or asked her when he wants to urine.

Or maybe she has to many kids to look after.

Just have to asked her what was her delay to changed him.

    Thank You

  9. Utterly unacceptable.  Find out who her boss is.  If she doesn't have a boss, remove your son from the daycare immediately and tell her why.  And don't give her another cent.

She says he was lying... did she offer any sort of plausible explanation?

  10. I don't blame you one bit for being furious and wanting this women fired.  I would talk to who ever runs this daycare center.  Then if that doens't work see if it's happened to any other parents, and if all else fails call the local news.

  11. Deff Child services, all child workers are surposed to have good proper training and a working with children license,

    geez what a *****.....

thats soooo wrong, take her to court!!!

  12. Take him to a different daycare that is unacceptable!!!!!

  13. I have to agree that your son should be believed on this one!

Have there been any other incidents of concern in the past?  If the daycare has been good otherwise, I'd probably try to escalate within the centre and request removal of this staff member.    If this is not met, I'd escalate with the appropriate authorities.

If this is not an isolated incident, I'd pull your son out of the centre immediately and report to the appropriate authorities.

  14. Hate to burst your bubble lady but 3 year olds don't always have the best memory and aren't always reliable.

Go to the director of the daycare or the teachers boss and voice your concerns.

I wouldn't be worried unless it happens again.

  15. file a complaint with the local department of Human services/ Child advocacy services. They should launch an investigation and privately interview your son. If that doesn't work hire an attorney and sue their pants off along with the worker.

  16. that her to court 4 abuse. by rights that daycare centre should be closed if thats how ur children r getting treated.

  17. 3yr olds tell stories BUT they also tell it like it is LISTEN to your baby SHE is ABUSING your child

  18. I do not know you, but this makes me so mad. I am shocked that she did that to him. He is little, and most kids at that age are still doing the whole potty training thing. To let a child sit in their own urine is awful. It can make them have a rash, and make them sick. How rude of her to say that he was lying when he smelled like pee, and he was wet. Is she stupid?!

I would want her gone too! She may have been too d**n lazy to clean it/ him. That is part of her job I mean she is suppose to take care of these kiddos.

I would say go to the news agency in your home town/ city. I would want the word spread about her.

You can look up the city number to call, and make a complain on her. You know those plaques they are suppose to have that are issued by the city? It should be on there. Or heck go to the city better buisness bureau.

Please do something about this............ I would not want her to be taking care of kids anymore.

  19. They can come up with stories to cover themselves but the fact that he was wet like that when you picked him up tells you that she is lying and that he did pee his pants and she didn't bother to change him or even tell you that he needed changed.  And the fact it was only damp tells you he was wearing those wet clothes for awhile.  Complain to the director of the daycare.

  20. my mom works at a daycare

    with 3 year olds

and that is indeed not a story a 3 year old would come up with

and even if the matt part was a "fib" she should have changed him the minute it came to her attention

i would report it to the daycare director

  21. Police or child services. I can't stand people that do that kind of thing to children.

  22. take her to court for abuse.

  23. Go to Child Protection Services. They will tell you who to contact in your area. Get that woman shut down!

  24. There are state or county licensing boards for daycare centers.  Contact your local municiple office and ask who you would complain to.  You might like to contact the Better Business Bureau as well.

    That is just plain awful.

  25. talk to the owner of the daycare and confront the woman again. children don't lie about stuff like that!

  26. I am a stay at home mum because of this I was a vet nurse I would stay at home with them befor having to put up with that go right to the manger report it in any way you can that is wrong

  27. your way calmer than i would have been...honestly i would have beat her for that....does she not know that that can hurt ur child physicaly and mentally!!! call your local police dept. and ask how to get in touch with child protective services...then call human reasources

  28. You need to talk Calmly with the director or remove your child.  He could have had an accident and been too shy to say anything and the teacher thought he lied about not going potty and peed dilberately.  Does happen.

Your best bet is to find a new facility. Or stay home with him.

  29. Oh my...

    Get her fired for sure.

Your 3 year old, def couldnt make up a story like that.

    What a horrible woman!

  30. To be honest, maybe she was neglectful and didn't notice he wetted his pants. However, the part about "acting like an animal" doesn't sound like something a child would make up. Talk to your son again and make sure you absolutely believe him before you talk to someone of higher rank at the daycare and see what can be done about the incident. If it did happen that women does not deserve to work there, that is no way to treat a 3 year old kid.

  31. I would report it immediately and change day care centres.

I would report it to the Manager and report it to the relevent department of community services.

Three year olds know the truth.

In the mean time once you have changed Day care's, sit down with your son and ask him to tell you exactly what happened and write it all down along with the confrontation and accusation that your child lied.

We all know this stuff happens in day care, but we expect better. They all like to cover-up the truth. No one would doubt your son in the slightest.
