I feel terrible about this and i can't stop thinking about it. I live in a apartment right now currently looking for our first home. I vacuum the rugs and mop the kitchen floor all the time. but after a day of crawling around he always has two dirty spots on his legs. I know it may sound silly but i feel like a bad mom for this i believe its from the rugs (its a old building) and where we are renting there isn't much i can do about replacing them. Is this something i should just get over am i making a big deal out of nothing?

  1. My daughter has the same problem, and no amount of cleaning fixed it. On ebay you can buy baby knee protectors that also polish your floors as they crawl! I know it sounds weird but they look so cute and all my friends love them too. if you have the in-laws coming round or are popping out you just pop then off and hey presto clean trousers!

  2. As long as you are regularly clean.... and your house is sanitary... then theres just not much you can do about it.  Your not a bad mother....... its happens.... babies get dirty.  Just wipe him down or bathe before bed.

I know what you mean though.......  i feel bad when my son is wearing an outfit with a stain.

  3. I have EXACTLY the same thing going on. I don't know where he gets the dirt from, my carpets have been washed, are vacuumed every day and the floors are mopped every morning. I suppose, during the day with wind and open windows, dust and dirt just kind of drifts into the house and settles on the floor. We don't notice it (unless we walk around in white socks all day), but baby's right there where the dust action takes place and picks it up. There's nothing to worry about, it's not a big deal at all. It doesn't make you dirty, and you shouldn't think of it that way... my mother calls it 'clean' dirt. It's not like he's carrying around a week's worth of dirt on his clothes.

Just enjoy cleaning him up at night. I love that bath in the evenings, when I'm washing my 'dirty' child and he comes out on the other side, so squeaky clean he almost glitters. And don't they just smell sooooo good after the bath?

I just have this thing with dirty faces and hands. All through the day, I clean off his face and hands. Especially his hands, since they tend to wander into his mouth a lot, and I don't always know where those little hands were :).

  4. I vac, sweep, and swiffer daily...normal at least 3 times a day since Ian likes to chunk food and our dogs have now become outside dogs due to the dirt they track in and Ian is always a dirty boy by the end of the day....I think it's just something I've had to learn to let go of. He gets a bath on extra dirty days..on cleaner days he gets wiped down with baby wipes really well...I'll hate to see what he looks like once he's walking!

  5. You can even have your carpets and rugs shampooed regularly and still come away with dirty socks. Dirty gets down inside there and there is not much you can do. Just keep them clean the best you can and give him a bath every night or put him into the sink and wash his legs off. Also just run a baby wipe over them.

People will track in all kinds of things onto their shoes when coming thru the house.
