My sony handy cam is only recording sound, Can any one help?

My sony handycam camcorder is only recording sound and no picture. the viewfinder is black and no image is recording. (yes, the lens cover is open). does anyone know what might be wrong or how i can fix this? any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!! thanks!!

try to clean ur camcorder with cleaner tape or cleaner disc depending on ur format.if it's hdd ,then u need to look into the hdd to fix the problem.good luck.

Sony makes garbage electronics, and you should see if your camcorder was part of the CCD glue lawsuit and your warranty got extended.

Sony makes CCDs with bad glue that detach after a few years and the camera becomes completely useless. This is present in both digital camera and digital video cameras from sony, and other manufacturer who bought sony chips to put in their own cameras.

The CCD is the device that captures the light. It is the "eye" of the camera.

Check the sony web site if it is covered in the class action suit and the grace period has not expired. They will send you a box to send it to them, if it is covered.

If not, you will need to purchase a new camcorder....and NOT SONY BRAND obviously...
