My soup has seperated. How do I restore it?

I am making a stroganoff slow cooker recipe. It called for condensed golden mushroom soup, and I made one from scratch. To thicken the soup, before adding it to the crock pot, I made a mixture of milk, butter and flour cooking until thickened. Well, I got anxious after I added the soup to the crock pot and turned it on high for an hour ( I know, I should never have done that, but I am an impatient vixen sometimes.) and then it separated. How do I fix this? THere is 2 more hours to finish the dish. I only had it on high for one hour.It has been cooking for 4 hours total.

  1. If you boil a cream sauce too hard, the sauce will "break,"

There are some remedies - usually, you whisk the heck out of it before you resort to using beaten egg or other remedy. Good luck.

  2. Can you stir it?  Separate the liquid from the rest of the contents, carefully, don't get burned.  After your get the liquid (soup) out stir it with a whisk.

Are you sure it isn't cooked all the way?  Check the noodles and see if they are done.  Check the meat and see if it is done.  If it is done, leave the liquid separated after you get it mixed up and use the liquid more like a gravy.  It should taste the same.

How did you make the mushroom soup?  Taste it to see if it is good.  If the soup part tastes bad, your dish can be hard to save.
