My speakers wont work.. help!?

my laptop(asus eee pc) wont recognize my speakers.. give me some tips please..

  1. Did you install all the drivers on the CD Asus gives you for when you install XP?  I installed XP on my Eee 701 4G.  As soon as that install finished, I installed the drivers from the Asus CD.  The drivers on that CD are for the display, the sound, and the wireless and wired network adapters.  If you don't have the drivers CD, run Windows Update and see if Windows will find the Realtek audio driver you need.


  2. Unless you purchased the more expensive Eee PC then you're  probably running off of a different kind of operating system known as Linux. It is not the same as Windows or Macintosh where you plug something in and it just works. Linux needs you to download the appropriate hardware driver for the speakers. If this is not available for linux you may need to find a different set of speakers that will work with linux. If you do find the drivers but the speakers continue to cause problems, there may be an issue with the mainboard. If this is the case, i would suggest bringing the laptop in for servicing as soon as possible.
