My speedo and odometer stopped working

my 89 Bronco II all of a sudden decided to stop telling me how fast im going. Doesn't seem to be a fuse, i can't figure it out. What can it be, and how do i fix it?

  1. Well, they're connected to a gear behind the transmission, try checking that. It's likely the gear broke


  2. open up the dash and put in some new fuses it really easy to do, so dont bother going to a mechanic

  3. IM not sure if you ahve an electric speedometor or not. If so it is your guage cluster. if its not electric replace your speedometor cable. If that doesnt do it replace speed sensor. Not too hard.

  4. That happened to my brother in his 97 taurus because he blew a fuse.

  5. The cable broke.  I don't have a 1989 Bronco II, I have a 1989 F-150.  My speedometer is cable drive, mechanical.

  6. Your clocks might need replacing, if theres a fault internally.

  7. well there must be water inside the circuit usually happens to my bike..just open the cover and dry it..it will work fine..

  8. replace the speedometer cable.
