  1. If its a tarantula then ye it's fine. It always has an exit. Look at any spiders tanks in pet stores.

  2. A spider as a pet that's different.

  3. he may have done that because he is going to shed his skin or moult - whatever they do..  and wanted some privacy.  if he did it then yes, it is normal..  i hope that he is now being fed and watered!  these animals are delicate and need an enviroment that will allow them to be stimulated and healthy. spiders won't attack unless provoked so tell your brother not to be scared or to find someone else to take care of the poor thing!

  4. .....spiders absorb water through their skin, he may be trapping moisture....and feeding occasionally is good...it will come out for a meal...whatever type of spider you have there

.....by the way....some spiders are poisonous to humans, and they all can bite, do youknow what typeof spider your brother has?

....feed it some dead flies, or live crickets, maybe some small tiny green grasshoppers

and a thimble or capful of water....

  5. Depends on what kind it is. Dont be squeamish, even if its a tarantula. i have a rose haired tarantula (or chilean fire haired) and their bite is no more venomous then a bee sting, and it takes ALOT to provoke them. Do some research on the spider, figure out what kind it is if you dont know, that will tell you if its normal or not what its doing with the web. Always make sure it have a shallow water dish and food. mine eats crickets once a week. Talk to pet store workers for mroe info. and if it is venomous then excercise caution, maybe wear gloves if it makes your brother feel better. best of luck! :)
