My sprinkler system won't shut off??

The handles are off and I even shut off the mainline. What could be going on? They won't shut off!! It's kind of scaring me!

You must have shut off the main line to your house and your in ground sprinkler is on another main line.

maybe you have a well that waters your lawn?? so look for the pump that runs the well

one way to know for sure is to go to the electrical panel box in your house and turn off the two main circuit breakers that are on the top. it will turn all the electric off. If that stops the water then you have your answer. Turn the house power back on and look to see which individual breakers  handle the pump---it will be a 240 volt circuit,,meaning 2 circuit breakers together.
