My sprinkler system wont turn on?

I pressed the manual button for my sprinklers and I hear a buzz sound outside

where I guess the motor is. but the water wont turn on actually a little waters coming out but the sprinkler heads are not coming up.

Anyone had this problem or are familiar with systems.Thanks in advance.

Most systems use either a solenoid valve or a motorized valve to open and close the shut off. Obviously it is not working. The ones with a motorized valve you can turn manually. Not just the "manual" button on the control but the valve in the box . It may be stuck and turning it could free it up.

But it does sound like the valve is bad.

But it could also be somebody shut off the water to the system or it is clogged up. If there is not enough water pressure there because you have a plugged screen or something then a solenoid type valve will buzz while trying to open since it can't fully open without the pressure there.
