We planted a live oak tree in my front yard last spring. It was doing well until about a couple of weeks ago. My lawn sprinkler become disabled and the live oak received minimal water during these 2 weeks. My sprinkler has since been repaired and I am watering my tree & lawn once at 5AM for 8 minutes each zone and again at 6 AM for another 8 minutes everyday. Am doing everything I need in order to bring back my live oak?

  1. Brief watering like that will only reach about 4 inches down through the topsoil.

Use a garden hose without a nozzle on it and turn the water faucet on just barely and let the hose run for several hours so that the water can soak down to the roots which are probably at least a foot down.

Do this once a day, for a few days until the ground becomes saturated.

You may be able to a skewer to determine the depth of the watering.
