  1. Your squash is not being pollinated. If the immature squash is not pollinated they will decay on the vine. I had this same problem with my squash because we have so few bees to do the pollination. I had to go out in the morning when the flowers were open and pollinate the flowers myself with a Q-tip or my fingers. Once I done this I had squash for the rest of the summer.  The female flowers have the tiny squash at the base of the flower and the male flowers do not.  Just take the yellowish/orangeish pollen from the male flower (fuzzy structure inside the flower) and rub it all over the club like structure in the female flower.  You will have squash in no time.  Good Luck!

  2. you have to have good soil, number one. give it a shot of miracle   grow and then a lot of water. i dont know how you are watering them but it should be early in the moring and when the sun goes down. watering them in the middle of the day can kill them by the sum beaming down on them causing them to burn. just remember not to over load the miracle grow.

  3. Squash plants have both male and female flowers http://www.omafra.gov.on.ca/english/crop...

Male flowers produce a tiny stunted fruit that does not set.  Female flowers produce a tiny fruit that grows into a big fruit.

Pollen must be transferred from the male to the female flower for this to happen.  Usually it's done by bees and various insects.

You probably have a big crop of male flowers, or insufficient female flowers for fruit to set.  Sometimes this happens early in the season, or when conditions are very wet or very dry.  Usually it resolves itself.

  4. you could have too many leaves, too many heads which has too many squashes so none of them are getting enough energy, or the plant is not getting enough sun. About 80% of my squash make it to an eadible size and I keep them picked even when I don't eat them so it continues to produce.
