Question:

My stand up shower is clogged.

I have unclogged tubs before by taking off the stopper and pulling all the hair out.... However in my stand up shower I took the drain screen off after plunging the h**l out of it (which did not work) I got my wet/dry vac out and sucked out all of the water so that I could see down the drain with a flashlight. I don't see anything that could be blocking the pipes... the pipe goes straight down for about a foot or so then curves. Any ideas??... I don't think it could be the sewer line cause I don't have this problem in the other shower or with other drains.

  1. Buy a snake from the hardware store. Chances are, you eill use it more than once in this shower. If that doesn't fix it, try draino. It is not the best thing to use, but if you are facing a huge plumbing bill it could e a good last resort.

  2. Drano or ask a Profession at any bathroom store? Or check it at Google.com

  3. go to home depot and buy snake. They have one that is 1/4" X 25 ft long in a sort of round thingy. I use to use them to unstop tubs and lav's when in air force. They also have motorized ones for 150+ but for that much call plumber and keep ur hands clean

  4. Pour some drano in it. That should help.

  5. Hi, The curve area is the trap to keep sewer gases out of the house. More than likely the clog is near or at this area. For immediate drainage a coat hanger run down there and swirled around may break up the clog. The next step is the snake. When you run the snake down there try and have some water draining down the other drains. It may help keep them from clogging with all the 'stuff' that is going to be broken loose with this action. Sorry.
