  1. your quick lunch icons are too populated...

your desktop  icons are too populated..

go to control panel---> administrative tools---> services

and disable those services that are from your applications that you dont need...

    go to run type "msconfig"

remove some start up applications that starts everytime you startup your pc.(sometimes there is an error message after disabling some apps but its normal)...

you can set your desktop theme to windows classic...

thats  all i do to  start and shut down my pc faster..

    (my startup is only  20sec)

  2. Don't know about finallyfast. Have you defragmented all of your hard drives?  Have you dumped your temporary internet files?  Have you done a system restore? Before beginning, back up all your files-you're doing that anyway, right?  All of these things are easily done, by reading your screen and following the prompts.

If not, do all of the above.  They can be accessed by clicking your control panel.  Click "Free up space on your hard disk", a box pops up then select the drive you're cleaning up, then OK.

When that's done, (go back to Control Panel) click on "Rearrange items on your hard disk to make programs run faster".  A box pops us (disk defragmenter), select the drive, then analyze.  Wait, then if it says to defragment the drive, click defragment in the pop up box.  Do this for both drives.

Finally, (go back to Control Panel) and click on "System Restore" (usually in upper left box).  A calendar appears.  Go back to the (usually) the earliest date, or a date when you're computer was running well.  Read your screen and follow the on screen instructions.

All of these may take some time to do, if you're not doing them regularly.  In the future, do these things at least once a month.

  3. Disable unwanted items from startup: http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows/q...

Install this from Microsoft to help shutdown faster: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/detai...

  4. The most basic problem which we face regularly in computers is slow down and slow startup process..

well i should tell u this is the time when u need to work for u computer

There are several reasons y ur computers slows down like,

Main Memory, Virtual Memory, Multiple process running at same time, too many files on computer , too many start up programms , unclean registry etc.

i will tell u how to deal with that..

I cannot do anything on RAM.. If u are Low on RAM u need to upgrade it to atleast 1 gb

Virtual Memory is like a paging file which computer uses as if its a main memory

u can increase that with no extra cost..

navigate to Mycomputers > properties > advance tab > performance > settings > advance > Virtual memory > edit

keep initial and maximum size same n this should be atleast 2 times of ur RAM. ie if u have 512 MB ram ur initial n maximum size will be 1024 MB

Ur computer when boots up it has too many process in start up even when u dont need that.

like printer , when system boots it starts printer processes as well even if u dun have printer attached to it. u need to remove these unwanted process from start up

this can be done by start > run > services.msc

disable / start up / manual start up services which u feel according to priority .

I guess u have several files on ur Desktop . Move it to another location

i also suggest u to do not put ur personal files on C:  drive or where the system files are located

when we save some file it gets saved in arbitary location in Memory

u can make this in proper way by running Disk defragmentor.

    start > programs > accessories > system tool > Disk defragmentor .

run this service for each of ur drive.

Ur pc needs to b clean up for unwanted trash files.

    run this

start > programs > accessories > system tool > Disk cleanup> this will remove temp, session files, recycle bin and also some other temp program files.

when once program is installed some of them by defaults come to the lower right hand of the screen where u see the time / date.

u need to remove those too

    start > run > msconfig > services .

uncheck all those unwanted applications from boot up

Registry is another reason for slow process

when some files installed or uninstalled it makes entry on registy as well u need to clean up that as well

best tool canbe registry editor which u needs to download

one thin i can sure u if u follow above steps ur pc will work 70% faster than working now, hope this works

    thanks
