They have bloomed great for several years, this is the first time I have had this. I pruned them, put Miracle Grow on them and they still have not blossomed. Again, they get the bud, the bud gets brown and they die. Help!

  1. Possible reasons:

    1.  Did you divide your daylily plants and replant them this spring?  If so, they may not bloom properly this year.

    2.  Did you divide your daylily plants and replant them in very late fall?  If so, they may not have had time to re-root before the first frost.

    3.  Do the daylilies need to be divided and replanted?  Crowded conditions can sometimes cause this.

    4.  Overfertilizing can cause excessive foilage and no blooms or stunted blooms.

    5.  Is there too much shade?  Are there bushes or trees in the area that have grown and blocked the sun?

As another poster suggested, they may be overfertilized.  I do absolutely nothing to my orange daylilies, and they bloom and spread vigorously.  When I planted them, I put a handful of composted steer  manure into the hole, and that's it.

I tend to overwater and overfertilize (I use steer manure from a farm), so it's hard for me to resist fertilizing everything.

  2. stop using  Miracle Grow you might be over feeding ur plant but still dont use Miracle Grow there is better and more healthier thing u can try,

do nothing at first just water it a lot(one time) so all the Miracle Grow can get out the soil then if they still dont want to bloom then try something organic
