  1. I assume you mean impetigo?  This is a skin infection commonly caused by a staph or strep organism.  It's highly contageous by contact.

What to do?  First be sure it's getting appropriate treatment. If OTC creams are not doing the trick you might need the doc to prescribe a stronger one and possibly an oral antibiotic as well.

CLEAN CLEAN CLEAN.  Wash everything from bedding, disinfect toys, wash all his clothes.

Also- if he's in a daycare at all he could be getting it from there. Notify them and make sure they've cleaned and/or investigated for possible spread at the facility.

If he's in sports- same thing.  The locker room is a great place to spread around bugs.  They may need to disinfect and someone else probably has it- and needs treatment before returning.

Then there's always school.  Notifying school is a good idea just in case there is a outbreak they need to get a handle on.  Disinfecting desks and other surfaces is one step. Notifying other parents and letting them know what to look for is another.

He's getting it from somewhere- so clean clean clean at home and start notifying everywhere he regularly goes because someone else must have it or there's a real need for a step up in sanitation!

(Also stress to him the importance of washing hands- especially if he's getting it around the mouth.)

All that ruled out- try having the sores cultured to verify the diagnosis.  There's always the possibility something else is causing the lesion. Likely impetigo if that's the problem you're having but there are other possible causes as well.

  2. Encourage him to wash his hands.

  3. its impentago.........its from dirt. he needs to wash himself better. get him liquid anti bacterial soap, that make make him use it more.

my kids got it from being barefoot in the sand box when they were little. but not over and over. so just tell him to wash himself or you will wash him.

  4. Take him to the Dr. they have medicine for it.  Also the more you sweat the more you break out so if he's out playing and running around encourage him to wash his hands and face (or where ever he is breaking out in it) often.
