My stepdad is spying on me..?

Okay I'm 16 (and a girl). My mom married my stepdad 3 years ago, and other than the occasional awkward sketchy moment, he's been really great. earlier tonight, though, I was dusting my bookshelves, and I accidentally knocked this little ceramic jester nic-nac that my stepdad had given me on the floor. It shattered, and on the inside, there was a little camera. I cleaned it up as fast as I could, and went into my bathroom and cried. Then I started looking around for others, and when my mom and him were asleep, I went into his office and started snooping around. I got on his computer and went to his media players, and in one of the "recent file" pulldowns, there was a video called pri63. I opened it, and it was a video from a hidden camera in my room of me masturbating!!!! I'm really freaked out. I'm like shaking uncontrollably. What should I do? How can I tell my mom?

If i was you i would tell your mother and have you two sit and talk with him and ask if there were any more cameras in your room or bathroom. Say that if he doesn't come clean, destroy those tapes, and get rid of all the cams that you will call the police.

If he doesn't say anything or tries to defend himself try doing something in your room like Dancing around in your towel after a shower then when he isn't home sneak onto his computer and see if he has any files that matches what you did. If he does show them to your mother and call the police.

Give your mother the camera and get a copy... er, wait. DON'T get a copy of the video. Er.. well, you need proof that your stepfather did this.

I can understand that you wouldn't want anyone to see the proof... you need to decide if the camera is enough to back up your words.

If you're shaking uncontrollably, you need to sit or lie down until you can relax. Don't do anything until you can think clearly and be calm. That's a difficult thing to do right now, but you need to be able to cognate right now. If they're sleeping, there's not much you should do right now.

Action is for tomorrow... or whenever you get a chance to be alone with your mom. She needs to know. The question of 'how' to tell your mom... just be very straight forward. Begin with the part where you were dusting the shelves, broke the jester, found the camera, discovered a private video that the jerk recorded, and then the end.

You probably don't even have to tell her what was on the video... I think the knowledge that her husband was spying on his stepdaughter at all, that first little edge of information, is going to be enough to get the point across. I mean, why else would there be a camera in something that he gave you?

Ok, first, keep that video for evidence. It might seem VERY embarassing, but you NEED to keep it for proof.

Do you have a USB? When you have the time, plug your USB into his computer, find the video, and drag it into the USB folder.

Look through ALL his folders for more videos. if he has one, he most likely has many more. Search through "My Videos" and "My Photos" for more.

You NEED to put them ALL on your USB, and don't mention that you have them.

It is VERY embarassing, I know. But in order for him to get in trouble, you need to have them.

Don't leave evidence that you have the videos at all. MAKE SURE YOU HAVE UNPLUGGED THE USB!

keep it somewhere safe. If it is for school, definitely don't take it to school! The video could pop up, or you mgiht lose your USB.

Keep your USB somewhere very safe, like under your carpet or in the packaging of a pad. Now hide that under your bed or in a pocket of something in your wardrobe.

If I was in your situation, I would first look all over your room for more cameras. Check in your computer speakers, the air conditioner, in soft toys, etc. EVERYWHERE. I mean check in every single thing in your room.

Dont break them at all. This is fantastic evidence for Police. It will seem SO sick that you can't have your own privacy, but until you have told the police, change in the bathroom. Dont make it obvious that you know theres cameras in your bedroom. He will get suspicious.

Don't bother telling your Mum. I would literally ring up the Police straight away, or even go to the Police Station. Tell them the WHOLE story, and you dont need to tell them exactly what you saw, just say "I found a video on his computer of me doing something private" or something. Definitely talk to a female Police officer. Dont worry - they deal with things like this ALL the time. Sick things happen all the time, and its shocking when it happens to you.

When you tell the police, give them your USB. Tell them you dont want them to watch it now cause you're embarassed. It will be so so SO embarassing, but in the longrun, its the best thing to do if you want to live in a safe envorinment with the right of privacy.

Well, I definitely think you have to tell your mom. I don't know how you should, but I think the best way would be to show her and tell her now (not later).
