  1. Contact the florida DMV, http://hsmv.state.fl.us/

See what they have to say, each state is different. I do not know if it is possible unless you have paperwork to back the claim.

    I live in Florida.

  2. If he just gave you the ownership paper without signing it over to you he did not give you title, but rather gave you the title.

For you to have title to it, so that he could not sell it, he would have to sign the ownership over to you. You would be the lien holder or legal owner, and he could be registered owner or user.

This way you have your investment protected and he is liable for anything that has to do with the bike, like tickets or accidents.

If he did sign it over to you, contact the Florida DMV and ask how to complete the transfer.

For a page with a lot of info on Florida registrations, go to  http://www3.hsmv.state.fl.us/dmv/dmvemai...

and click Vehicle Titles in the drop down box.

To email them with a question, go to the address above and click 'other' in the drop down box.

The phone number they have for Vehicle titles, tags or license plates is 850/617-2000.

    Good luck.

  3. Hopefully you also have something in writing stating why you have the title and the amount and conditions of the loan. He could file for a lost title and you are out of luck.
