I thought I had blown my left side speakers last week. Well today I hooked up all my speakers to see what worked and what didnt. The right side worked, left sounded blown (static with the sound). Ok. So I get 2 new speakers and hook them up. Again... right works, left sounds blown. wtf... new speakers?! So then it hit me... I hooked up all my old speakers to the right side on at a time... and not a single one was blown. So I attached it to the left output... bam sounds blown.

Im so confused. :(

  1. you have you wires reversed

  2. Reversed wires will cause phase problems, not the kind of problem you're describing.

Check your speaker connections and be sure that there are no stray wires crossing over to anything at both the speakers and the amplifier.

If the connection side checks out, then the problem is likely going to be the receiver with a possible fault in either the power amp circuit or the preamp circuit.

To narrow down a problem with the amplifier or the preamp, disconnect the wires from the receiver and try using headphones; if both channels are clear, it might be the power amp but if the left still has problems, it might be the preamp.
