Ok, i just bought an alpine 9874 headunit. I just hooked this stereo up to a schosche wiring harness which then plugs into my factory harness. Now i have this hooked up to 4 pioneer 225 watt 4 ohm speakers. Ok now i have a 12 inch boston acoustic sub hooked to a concept amp. i did have 8 gauge wire wired to the amp. just the other day i put in 4 gauge wire in. now this problem didnt happen when i had the 8 gauge wire in. is the 4 ga wire drawing to much power from the battery?? do i need a better one?? it also shuts everything off when i turn the gain up on the amp. so its got to be the battery right??? also someone said i need to wire my power and ground wires form my headunit straight to the battery and a different ground instead of from the harness. what does everybody think????

  1. your just maxing out the speakers that means your drawing all the power possible from your amp i would suggest a new amp

  2. My ex always wired my stereo equipment and head unit to my switch, and it sounds like your amp isn't powerful enough.  It's def. not the battery, it's the amp shutting down and shutting everything off.

  3. well the buttons must be screwed up because my old radio used to do that and my tv but i threw that out. Take it to an electric store like radioshack or circuit city and theyll fix it. if it still doesnt fix then your either blasting the radio too loud which draws out the radios battery so u might want to turn it down or just get a new battery and everything should be fine. it helped my radio.

  4. you need to turn the gains down on your amp, or get a more powerful amp if you still want the volume. you have everything too loud and you're either overheating the amp/amps or sending them into protect mode. the 4 guage wire upgrade is a good thing. it allows much more current to get to your amps. the battery isn't causing anyhting to shut off. the battery doesnt do anything but charge while the car is running. the battery's purpose is to start the car. and run all electrical devices when the car is not on (which is why u can kill it by playing music too long with the car off).

  5. Kidd you have a bad ground to the amp.It must also be 4 gauge and only 3 feet long with super clean, super tight. When you say my stereo turns off do you mean head unit,or amp you must specify if you want help. Its not the battery its your connections
