My stero will not play CDs anymore?

I have a Samsung MAX-345 stero system. I was able to play CDs a while back, but for some strange reason, it will not play them anymore. I am using paid for CDs (SOAD to be exact). I have litened to them on this sytem before, but they just won't play. I have also tested multiple CDs with multiple CD players. I have unplugged the stero for over two hours, to let it reset, but still no good. Any help would be apprecitaed.

It could be dust on the objective lens.

You may have to take the cover off of the unit and try to clean the lens on the optical pickup using a swab with one end dry and the other end lightly dampened with water.

Gently rub the lens clean with the damp side, then rub the lens dry with the dry side.

Worst cases:

1. Worn optical pickup.

2. Intermittent connection either due to a bad connection or severed conductors in the cable.
