Question:

My subwoofer goes off when car engine is swithched on?

basicly i i have bmw 318ci and i have connected the back speakers to an amplifier then to a subwoofer.the subwoofer plays fine when the ignition is on but once i start the engine the subwoofer goes off and then comes back on again when engine is switched off.

Tried with different amps still same problem. any ideas

  1. are you using a highlevel converter such as a PAC - SNI35 .


  2. sounds like a loose connection,if you have already checked all the wires and stff,it may be the subs.

  3. check your connection. i think the problem is that when the engine is turned on, it gives off a lot of sound output and the subwoofer just turns on to stop it from blowing up. try checking your connection over or try a better subwoofer

  4. Power supply is from the wrong point, try it straight from the battery.

  5. You have your rear speakers hooked up to the amp, and then to the subwoofer... are you saying that you are using your rear speakers as the amp input, instead of RCA cables?

  6. Sounds like a problem with where the remote wire is hooked up for your amp.  Make sure its hooked up to something that stays on while the engine is on.
