Question:

My sunflowers are very tall but haven't flowered?

They are in full sun and are regularly watered. There is no sign of a flower appearing, I thought they would be in bloom by now.

Why would this be?

  2. I have 6 which I planted together, 2 are 6' tall and 1 has flowered and the rest are about3' tall.

  3. Hi, It may be the soil that your sunflowers are in or you might have to get some bloming plant food.

  4. It depends on which variety of sunflower, and when it was planted some of the larger sunflowers can take 100 days to produce. It takes at least 90 days.

    If your plant is growing and is healthy you just need to be patient the flower should appear any day. There is still plenty of time.

If your fertilizing it with a high nitrogen fertilizer such as all purpose miracle grow ..then stop...This will give you all leaves and no or very few blooms..they need some fertilizer with high phospherous and pottasium based fertilizer such as miracle grow 'bloom booster' which drops the nitrogen content  and increases the phosphrus and pottasium content..Read under "how to grow sunflowers" on this link concerning the fertilizer..

  6. Bees are helpfull may be you should find some one with hives to put in your garden?

  7. Water it 12 times a day. and soon it will have flowers, this takes about three months or more.
