i want to do whatever i can to save money!

i'm probably going to have to raise 1/2 of the money b/c my parents are cheap! lol

i was thinking inviting at least 50 of my closest friends

[i know that's not a lot.. but i'm trying to save money]

to make it an okay-sized, exclusive party.

i want a crazy amazing candyland sweet sixteen!

with TONS OF bright colors!

i'm thinking dance party w/glow sticks [price for 50?]

i want it to be kinda sophisticated but fun.

i'm not going to feed anyone [cost too much]

except for like a straight up candy buffet [really cool candy ideas?]

with a chocolate fountain [anybody know the cost to rent?]

what drinks?

i think i'm going to plug an i-pod into the stereo system [totally ghetto! i know! lol]

but i'm going to have a really cool band playing [will that compensate? lol]

i think my church is a free venue & it has cool lights and stuff..

but are those ideas totally lame?

anyone have any other ideas?

i live in texas btw

  2. Hey,

Your idea isn't SO lame, It could use some adjustments.

No food is insane, I get how you want to stay cheap- belive me cheap is good, but isn't always th best.

If your serving an ALL candy buffet you should add something salty to the menu, maybe also have a table of chips, finger sandwiches, etc you can easily make them yourself.

The glow stick thing is good, You should give them with your invites-

Kinda like, To get into my party you must be wearing a glow stick kinda deal

The chocolate fountain is a great idea, their DELICIOUS, but if i were you I would have someone on guard of it, they always get out of hand, children filling chocolate up with cups and drinking it can often lead to MASSIVE vomit.

The whole i-pod thing is pretty cool, but also LAME.

Get one of your friends to dj, or even a cool cousin, or uncle, possibly even a sibiling i'm sure they are willing to help out if its your birthday, plus if you friends dont kow your family so well they could think that you actully did HIRE a prof dj,

    anyways

    goodluck with planning-

    need anymore ideas e-mail me

  3. It sounds fine except for the fact that you arent serving food. You NEED to serve food. At all partie there are food even if you are not going to serve a whole meal. Even if its a bbq or a few munchies but there needs to be food. You cant expect that everyone has had dinner or wont get hungry during the partyy. People will get sick if ALL you are serving is candy and I dont think they would like that or find it cool anyway.

  4. party sound like it should be fun except the food. i mean food is very expensive but u can have like meatballs, hotdogs, hot wings or pizza or sum. i mean most people like to eat while having fun. oh yeah about the drinks i would keep it nice and fruity like hawiian punch or something like that. as for the theme wise i like the theme because it reminds me of my favorite movie WILLY WONKA AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY.

*****HOPE THAT U CAN USE MY IDEAS********

  6. all sounded good until you said no food! how long is this party that you expect people not to eat anything but candy!

i threw a party on the cheap side. i catered  from a pizzeria for 12.00 a person and i got like 8-10 dishes of food. i set up buffet style and everyone helped them selves

had a friend play "dj" for the night and he made tips!

  7. If you're going to do no food you NEED to stress in your invites that this is a candyland dessert party and that there's not going to be food, just desserts, and sweet treats.

You can get some clear vases and fill them with skittles and then put some of those big lollipops in them, they'll act as the flowers.

You can get those ring candies, the ones that look like a diamond ring on top (but it's candy) and then the part you put on your finger is plastic and use them as the napkin rings.  Put the part that goes on your finger around the napkin and have the diamond candy part facing up.  You can also use those button candies, they're the ones that are on the white paper that you bite off with your teeth, you can put them around the napkin and staple it around the back.  You can even tie a string of licorce around the napkin and make that a napkin ring.

You can also get a pinata being it's a sweets party.

Set up an ice cream bar.  Get chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry ice cream and other favorites and some toppings. Sprinkles, chocolate syrup, whipped cream, and marachino cherries and have everyone make their own sundaes.

You can also set up an area with cotton candy and popcorn!

You can get clusters of balloons and streamers and have them all around the room.

Make sure to have plenty of drinks available.  Iced tea, lemonade, pink lemonade (especially since this is a sweets party) soda, and water, you definitely want water being this is a sweets party.  You can serve the drinks in a martini glass for more of an effect.

You can go to the m&m's website and pick out m&m's in the colors you want and with whatever you want them to say.  They personalize them now and you can make them your favors for your guests.

You can also get the colorful candy, the hard candy and put it in clear glass containers and have it out to really make it have an effect.  Like mike&ikes, lemonheads, etc,  put them out so the colorful effect is there.

You can also put out gumball machines all around the party, but make sure to provide containers with pennies next to them so your guests can get them.  You can even get the dispensers that are meant for the specific candy, like jellybelly machine for jellybellys and m&m's dispenser for m&m's.

I hope some of these ideas help!

  8. 50 people IS a lot of people but you do have to serve some sort of snacks and beverages...that's what a party is.  At least have bowls of chips and pretzels.
