Question:

My swimsuit has some type of icky-looking stuff on it. What is it?

It looks like light colored sand has been lightly rubbed on the swimsuit in blobs. The blobs are symmetrical. I can't brush it off, and I can't wash it out. It does come out if I pick at it, but this is slow and tedious. Another friend has gotten it, and both of us got it on TYR swimsuits, the common kind with a bold one-color pattern on a black background. Also, both of us noticed it the week of, or soon after swimming in a lake. However, I have swam in this lake before and have never had this problem. The lake might not have anything to do with it. For now I'm assuming something happened to the elastic that caused it to discinigrate, because that's the best way I can explain it. It's hasn't gone see-through ot anything, but I have no other explanation. Please help!

  1. Based on description, it reads that the Lycra is worn out. The see-through will come in a few more times in the chlorine.

Time to get a new suit.

  2. the suit started to wear out. there really isnt much you can do except get a new suit. when suits start to wear out they get see through and get what you described. you can wear 2 worn out suits and it will provide enough coverage for you.

  3. I think the latex is disintegrating on you.  Have you had the suits for long?
