Hello. I have a very large sycamore tree over my dirveway. The cars are covered in droplets of sticky residue which i presume is coming from the tree. The wasps keep landing on the cars and feeding on it. Can anyone explain what is causing the tree to do this and why? Could it possibly be all the bugs that live on the tree? Green fly etc? Thank you very much!

  1. Tree sap and don't let it say on your car it will take the paint off.

  2. It's the sap in the tree and that's why all the bugs and bee's they like the moisture and sweetness............but to be truthful you car won't........my wife used to park at a doctors office and I finally had to get her to move the car....we had a white vinyl top and it was a mess........I'm sure you love the tree so just move the cars........all the best

  3. It's tree sap. h**l to get off a car oh and depending on where you live the summer heat can cause the tree sap to get all syrupy and that's why it drips onto vehicles.

  4. tree sap-if you have to park under it keep car waxed will help wash off sap-bugs love it

  5. It is called sap.

  6. Could very well be Whitefy. They are right about keeping the car washed and waxed. The Volk oil is one of the more effective controls but Whitefly is difficult because they tend to stay on the bottom of leaves and it is difficult to get good coverage with pesticides.

  7. You probably have something called scale on your tree, it is small white or beige looking and is located on the underside of leaves and branches, it seems to be a type of bug and causes the tree to drip sap. We used a product called Volk oil and it cleared it up for months, but returned when we didn`t use it in the dormant season. It will spread to neighboring trees if not treated. It is easy to use, spay on during growing season and water the roots with it in the dormant season. Hope that helps, good luck
