I bought a Toshiba t.v last year for school and i brought it with me this year. My roommates and i set up the tv and it worked perfectly fine for 2 days until all of a sudden when we touched the volume up or down the sound would go up all the way or down all the way even if we just touched it once. Also, this occurred when we pressed the up or down channel button. The tv would flip through all the channels with out stopping. What should i do? Why is this happening?

  1. ummm ...is the button stuck?... maybe? your pushing to hard at an angle an jamming the buttons?...buttons on the remote or tv?

  2. If the volume continues to go up or channels change after you push a button there is one other potential problem.

Did anyone recently spray the unit to clean the screen?

If say Windex got into the buttons, it will be difficult for the liquid to escape. When you press a button, that little bit of liquid or moisture will continue the connection even though you have let go of the button.

Something is making the connection, that's my best guess.

Look at the TV, see if you can remove the entire 'frame' of the set to get to the area around the buttons. Wipe dry, let it sit like that for a day. See what happens.

    Good luck
