My teacher asked to do a quick write on sections of the story what does he mean?

You can do this three ways:  a retell ( summary) , a reaction ( opinion), and a reflection ( personal connection). If the teacher did not give you a hint, stick with the summary for now.  Or do one of each for three different sections and ask the teacher for his/ her preference.
