  1. Don't always give in to someone--i.e. women.

  2. I think he was probably referring more to tenaciousness than stubbornness.  Stubbornness can be a good thing... especially if someone is trying to persuade you to do something wrong.  Some people call it being stubborn, I call it being adamant and assertive.

  3. I think it has to do with choosing your battles.  It you're stubborn about everything people will tend to discount you feeling.  If you are stubborn about something that really means something to you you will be respected and taken seriously.  Good luck.

  4. Because you don't want to become a dishrag who does whatever someone else tells you to do.  You need to stand up for your beliefs, but know when it is time to give in during an argument.

  5. IF you are right about something and you cave in, then you become wrong.  Being stubborn "some of the time" is only common sense.  That is why you should keep a little bit.  That is a smart teacher/coach.

  6. If you don't keep a bit, you'll become a complete doormat.

There's a difference between assertiveness and downright stubbornness, or assertiveness and agressiveness.  You need to be able to work with others and compromise at times, but you also need to be able to stand up for yourself and for what's right - you need to be able to have a voice and do something with it.

    :)
