aight so i didn't do my homework the other night (i forgot). its kinda like a project thing, and we were suppose to do some of it at home. well she asked me where mine was and i said forgot about it. then she starts getting angry with me and saying how i should of done it and that im lucky she didn't take it up blah blah blah. then she asked me do you wanna fail senior english....i was like no of course not. and she keeps going on for about 10 min saying im disappointed in you and im very upset.....i kept saying "im sorry im sorry, i usually do my homework 99% of the time." i mean she's freaking out, just cuz i don't do one homework assignment doesn't mean im going to fail english! i mean the year has barely even begun! most teachers would have just been like "o well thats your lost" and we would have moved on. why is she making such a big deal out of one homework assignment?i mean i don't think she's a b*tch or anything but i mean why does she care so much? its my problem not hers.

  1. Here is why she cares:

As a teacher, we do really care. We never want a child to fail. Often times we will bend over backwards to help our kids. I teach English as well. I like to give projects because students are more likely to fail a test. So projects help the students, but they take longer for me to grade. Again, I want my kids to be successful.

We care about our students. We are NOT there for a paycheck. We teach because there is something in us that wants the rewards of children doing well, knowing we made a difference.

By not turning in your work you are telling her 1. you don't care that she is trying her hardest, 2. you care less about her grade than she does (which is disappointing for a teacher, and 3. You may fail, We don't like that to happen and if you keep up not turning things in on time, she will be forced to watch you not graduate.

Trust me, if she got that upset it was coming from her heart. You are lucky to have a teacher that obviously cares about you and isn't so jaded she says "Oh well, your loss."

  2. I'm not sure where you go to school but in California a teacher is also rated by the success or failure of her students, so to some degree she also has a vested interest in your "success" for some teachers it could mean losing their jobs. Only she knows why she reacted the way she did, ask her.

  3. oh no!  a teacher who cares!   most teachers would just say "oh well, it's your grade"..  you should be happy your teacher cares enough to get upset..

  4. i think she was trying to make you disappointed in yourself for not doing you homework i no it's only one bit but teachers have to try keep all students at roughly the same stage and it makes more work for you if you don't keep up, you say you do it 99% of the time so maybe it was a shock for her that you didn't this time.

if you feel bad for a while just ask her why she made such a fuss teachers are people too! and try keep up with your homework in future.

  5. She simply expected that you would do it and was expressing her disappointment. I know it's hard to believe, but teachers are human beings too and they sometimes over-react.

  6. Suck it up and be happy you have a teacher that cares enough about you to be that upset that you didn't do it.  A teacher that cares that much about you is not something to be taken lightly...

  7. oh god, i totally agree!! i had the same issue last year in social studies. jsut try extra hard not to forget your work, but thats about all you can do. in the beginning of the year most teaches just tell you thats its ok, and it happens to everyone. if you really get fed up with her, what i would do is just tell her that you apologize and you will work harder next time to remember, but that its just one assignment and everybody messes up sometimes.

  8. I have to say that was pretty irresponsible of you. You should NEVER forget about your homework!
