  1. I don't know if it's normal because I haven't gotten that far yet.  My teacher still has me working on 'wax-on/wax-off'.

  2. Yes!  It is strange at first however with time it will be like second nature!  Martial Arts are very enlightening and with time you will learn new mysterious and wonderful ways of incorporating it into your everyday life.  I have been taking private lessons for over 6 mos. now and I understand how confusing new terminology can be.

    Sounds great stick with it!

  3. Never heard that one, but it sounds like it has a lot of power in it, so its o.k.  Also, normal.  Good luck, and keep at it.  :=)

  4. Wait until he has you going, "taaaaaauuuuuueeeeeeeeeewwwwaaaaaaaaaaaa...

Kiais can be different. It's just whatever feel right. You don't have to go by what your instructor says. Eventually you'll develop yourself. I've heard so many different ones.

I knew someone that used to get made fun of a little bit because hers sounded like she was saying "up".

My instructor has several of them. My favorite of his sounds like he's saying "I saw". =]

I've also heard "Sega" , "Seeya", "Hi", "Height"..and many more..

In time, you'll develop a Kiai that sounds right to you.
