  1. Have you asked your teacher?  He/she will know exactly what it means.


  2. They are not the letter S.  The symbol is to indicate that you should start a new paragraph with the first sentence after the symbol.

  4. Wow...I can't believe you haven't received a correct answer yet.  It means sentence structure.  Either you've written a run-on sentence, the wording is awkward, it is a fragment, there is a problem with subject-verb agreement, or something else is making the sentence difficult to read.

  5. maybe that it's a simple sentence? using them creates a choppy sort of feel to the writing and makes the writing more difficult to read. it's kinda like having to stop at every single intersection on the way to the mall.
