My teachers noticed that I had Autism?

My teachers told me and my mom that I might have autism because of the signs of autism they noticed when I am in school. Is it possible to have autism when I am 17 years old.

It's possible that a person can discover they have autism or Asperger's at any time in their life. It doesn't necessarily mean it's suddenly developed out of the blue though. If it turns out you have a form of autism it has probably been the case all along.

Yes, people of all ages can have autism. If you have it, then you've had it all your life and just didn't know about it. If you have it, then the fact that it went undetected for so long suggests that you probably have a mild form of it and are high functioning.

I suggest that you go see a professional to find out if you really have it. Teachers are not always right about these things and they don't have enough knowledge to diagnose students, so go see a medical professional, preferrably one who specializes in autism spectrum disorders.

If you have it, it is not the end of the world and being diagnosed might actually help you understand a lot of things about yourself and help you cope with difficulties you may have.
