  1. I am actually really good in Art. So I can help here. If you do win the Turner prize, you'll probably be super successful. If you don't, and your close. You tried your best. Everybody has a difficultly in some subject, or none. But if you want to be successful, than I would try and do some related stuff to what you need to be successful too.

  2. yeah, but its really how you feel if you think thats your highest goal you could achive with it. they 'll be pround that you set/broke a goal.

  3. Do you want to be successful in art?  If you do, practice and study.  If you're doing something to please someone else...there's a problem.

  4. just change your name to van gogh, cut your ear off and then splodge a few bits of paint around and hey presto

  5. Practice & Study.  Practice by just continually puting your pen/brush/chalk to the paper or canvas.  The more you do, the better you will become.  Study the 'Masters,' and try to duplicate some of their work, learn from their tried and true techniques.  Ask for your teacher to take the time to critique and offer suggestions on how to improve, how to grow as you practice.

I recently heard from a friend of mine that her collage offered an art class specializing in the Manga Style.  Perhaps there are prerequisits but I feel that a good artist is not a person that has a close-minded speacialty but is well rounded in alot of various styles.  Once proficient as an artist then specializing is fine.

    Hope that helps
