My team looking for winning season, says Kansas City Royals’ out-fielder Alex Gordon
The Kansas City Royals’ out-fielder Alex Gordon is pretty optimistic on his team’s winning chances next year. Recently, he gave a detailed interview in the media and described his franchise’s preparations with huge confidence.
Gordon said,
“To make the postseason, whatever that takes is what we need and what everybody wants to work for. I've been with them for five years now and haven't had a winning season yet, so we want to get that first and hopefully make the postseason. Honestly, it's
like a vacation, I think. You go to nice weather. Its fun and you are around your friends and teammates. It's pretty laid-back and I will be doing well next season, and you get your work in. It's all about getting ready for the season.”
Earlier, Dayton Moore, who is the Royals’ general manager, has also spoke in the media and hoped for a better season. However, Gordon talked specifically about their home games. Last season, the Royals performed better when they played at home field instead
on the road.
Particularly down the stretch in regular season, the Royals were certainly on top of their games but still those performances were not enough to land them in the postseason. Gordon also revealed in the interview about All Star game that is coming to Kansas
City this year. This will also help the Royals’ franchise financially.
On contrary to that, Gordon said that upcoming training sessions are most important for our entire roster. Going with a hitting average of .303 along with 23 home-runs, 87 RBIs and .376 OBP, Gordon has high hopes to beat his stats.
Starting off his career in 2005 when the Royals drafted him with a second overall pick, Gordon hit 29 home-runs playing in the Royals Minor League team Double-A Wichita Wranglers. From there on-wards, Gordon not only improved his game in the Minor League,
but he also proved to be a vital hitter in the Kansas City’s Major League team.
His recent interview has given many Royals’ fans a clearer picture of next season as what should they be excepting from their team.
