me and my friend who ive know since 3rd grade are juniors this year and the two fastest girls on our cross country team. we've both always loved to run but over the summer shes seemed to have lost interest. she didn't run a lot over the summer and she doesn't push herself at practice. shes wants to quite. we've been talking her out of it, but even if she doesn't i know she won't be as motivated as she needs to be.

my question is what can my team, coach, and i do to get her back? we need really need her and i know its something she likes, shes just getting tired of the work. thanks.

  1. mention how good being the top runner on the team, actually being in cross country alone,  will look really  good on college applications.

she is prolly bored of the same old thing...have the coach add variety to practices such as different locations for running. have you and her make each practice a race? idk there are a bunch of options like that.

ask the coach if some days instead of running you guys could go to the gym, most schools have a weight room. if not personally ask if you two could go to a local gym instead of practice every now and then...i'm sure the coach will be flexible if you two are important as you say (: .

have her bring her ipod to practice? helps most people.

i really don't have ideas other than this, but the weight training will help build muscle for more stamina and faster running and if she sees improvement i'm sure that will make her want to stick with it.

  2. I know many high school girls who have lost interest over the years and soem times it is best to accept that some people are not destined to be great track stars. I know this is probably not what you want to hear, but if she has really lost interest pushing her to do something she does not want to do might only make her feel more and more upset.

She might be able to get over it and help your team out, but don't feel too guilty if she decides to take another road.

Its alright it is her decision, but she is your friend and you should remember that
