My teenager has a phobia of hospitals...?

My fifteen year old, teenage daughter has an intense phobia of hospitals, and I am a bit worried about her; she has refused to actually talk with her doctor about this. What should I do?

i have a fear of them too.

its like, when i go in there my eyes get wider than normal, and my breathing is slightly elevated, and i get very observant as to what is going on. But more or less, I have a slight fear of doctors. Especially when I was smaller, I think the doctor cringed when he heard it was me. =]

( i used to kick and scream and knock the syringe trays out of his hand )

Maybe when she thinks about a hospital she thinks about death or being sick the hospital is probably reminding her of something that happened to her or she has heard about so if u can understand that then hopefully things will get better

Sit down with her, and talk just between you two, and ask why she feels like that?I'm sure she will open up to you, if there is some kind of phobia you may have start out with yours first, then she very well may get into why she has a phobia of hospitals! Just be honest with her, and truthful  about your feelings on whatever phobia you might have.

I have a phobia of hospitals, too. They're scary, drab places with a lot of pain inside. *shudder* This isn't anything you can cure with a pill. Just let it be.

If he doesn't need to go, I wouldn't worry. A lot of ppl hate hspitals.. I do.. At the same time I would go if a close family member or friend was in there.

She probably had a negative experience at one that led to the phobia. You should ask her what happened that traumatized her and try to find a hospital where she can feel safe from whatever happened.

tell her nothing is wrong with hospitals, i was scared of hospitals for a little while, but then my made told me nothing was wrong with them, that it's a place where people are taken care of and sometimes people pass on,and  that maybe, some patients look weird, but they maybe got hurt or were born like that.
