Ok,I know that it's meant to be 37 degrees Celsius, but mine is always around the 34/35 mark.....what does this mean?? (Once it was even 33.7 degrees Celsius)

I seem to be able to control my temp. because even if my forehead is roasting hot,I don't have a high temp. Whenever I'm ill,I nver have a high temperature. It's like I never have a high temperature, even when I'm supposed to!!!!!

And if mine is around 34 degrees,if I have 36.8 degrees, does it mean I have a high temperature??

  1. probably you are not measuring the body temp correctly. ask the hospital to measure the temp

normal body temp is 36.4 - 37.1 C (the temp of the blood)

the physiological effect of low temp is as follows

    36C mild shivering

    35C called hypothermia

    34C severe shivering

    33C delirium confusion

    32C call emergency

    31C shallow breathing unconscious

    24-26C respiratory arrest, comatose

the record survival has body temp of 14.2C

in the er, the first thing nurses will do is to meassure the temp using electronic equipment.

  2. 37 is just an average.  A few degrees up or down is still within the range (I tend to run at 36 degrees).  Also, the temperature may be inaccurate, depending on where it was taken.  Readings from the mouth can be a little skewed sometimes (especially if you just had something to drink).

The skin is notoriously bad for taking temperature readings.  Sometimes it acts as an insulator, and is much colder than your core temperature, and sometimes the capillaries open up to allow it to radiate heat, making it much closer to body temperature.  Plus, it's not consistent all over the body or between people (which is why it's hard to judge the temp from someone's forehead - the hand could be cold, and the forehead warm, so naturally the forehead would feel like it's burning up).

Finally, the thermometer could be inaccurate (especially if it's a cheap drug store one, or if the doctor's thermometer hasn't been calibrated in a long time).  If you're consistently 34 degrees on different thermometers, though, it's probably just your normal body temperature.    Your just naturally run cooler than most people, just as some tend to run hotter.

  3. they mean 37 as an average body temp. for people. that dosnt mean  that every one is there. you can be at 34 and still be normal.

  4. you confuse me... just use this little celsius rhyme I had to learn in 3rd grade.

    30 is HOT

    20 is NICE

    10 is COOL

    and....

    0 is ICE

  5. Im  not sure what this means, but having ur core temperature that low , all the time is probably dangerous, and no i dont think 36.8 means u have high temperature coz our bodies are designed to take 37 as normal, even if u do have low temperature. my advice to u is ask a doctor or some1 educated like that.
