i live in california. they suppose to send me my driver's license card within 60 days, but its been 60 days and i haven't receive it yet.

they told me that if i haven't receive my driver's license AFTER 60 days i should call the DMV to check the status of it.

the thing is that my temporary license expires exactly 60 days after i passed the test.

i called the DMV and the operator told me to talk to a technichian in person.

  1. If your license is expired you can't drive.  Period.  There is no 'grace period' on licenses.

    Per the web page:

After you pass your driving test you will be issued an interim license valid for 60 days until you receive your new photo license in the mail. Double-check your address before you leave DMV and tell the DMV representative if you have moved or if your address is incorrect. If you have not received your license after 60 days, call 1-800-777-0133 and they can check on the status for you. Have your interim license with you to provide information when requested.

If you called and they told you you had to come in and talk to them in person, do so, and they will tell you what's going on.

  2. Use your common sense... how can you wait till it expires before calling them?  I don't know why they said that, but you should have called earlier.

    No, you shouldn't drive.

  3. I would say yes, because if your stoped by Police they can check it out on their computer.

  4. I would advise you not too! you can get into trouble! and they MIGHT let you off with a warning but that will cause them to keep a close eye on you from then on!
