i have a ten gallon tank and am trying to figure out the best solution to make sure all of the fish are in a large enough school without overcrowding the tank. Would it be alright if i had:

5 silver hatchet fish

3 zebra glo fish

2 platys

2 albino cory catfish

  1. Sounds good, but the cory cats should never be put in a new tank..wiat 6 months so they have some stuff to eat up, otherwise they have nothing to eat.

  2. Cool... but not ideal..

Catfishes thrives is a school of 5 at least. Get 4-5 of them...

This concept also applies to Platys.. Get them about 5 or so...

Other than that, its gonna be exciting!

    So.

    5 silver hatchet fish

    3 zebra glo fish

    5 platys

    5 albino cory catfish

Don't worry about overcrowding as this is just nice for a 10 gallon..

    All the best

  3. i think that would be fine

  4. if u frighten hatchetfish they might jump and take flight...

  5. I would not recommend keeping two surface-dwelling schools (Danios and Hatchets) in a 10 gallon tank...  I would instead go with 1 school of 5-7 surface dwellers (either the Danios OR the Hatchets) and a school of Tetras, small Barbs (Cherry, Gold, Rosy), or Rasboras.  I would also add another albino Cory just for good measure.  This will give you a more balanced tank where the fish won't be constantly competing for space.
