  1. aha, i agree with sweet* video games are what stopped me from playing with them. But seriously,  she'll get bored with them eventually and she'll move on to other things. At least she's no chasing after boys and barely ever home

  2. Just don't worry about it =). I'm 13 - actually turning 14 tomorrow (happy birthday to me!!! lol) and I play with Webkinz and I'm really into Pokemon. My mom thinks it's not so good...but just let her do her own thing. As for the tomboy thing, don't worry about it. I was a tomboy up until 7th grade...and I grew out of it. Unfortunately for me, though, I do have some friend problems as I made a bad first impression on the people at my new school in 6th grade (apparently they thought I was weird because I was a tomboy =(  ). But if  she has friends and is happy, don't get in her way because eventually she will grow out of it.

  3. I agree with Britney. It has a lot to do with society and what is looked down upon. If society thought teens that played video games were immature, they would slowly start giving it up. Video games are just as "childish" as dolls, they are just more accepted.

Society teaches everyone to be the "same". What is not the same is seen as "un-normal". But why do you want to be "normal" anyways??? So people don't say anything bad about you? Why do we care so much about what people think?

  4. Does she play like ALL the time? Or does she just play occasionally? Because its normal for kids to want to relive life when they were little.

  5. this is not portrayed as normal because of all these video games but it beats the violence in them and skill. but is she happy to continue knowing their is greater things out there. well your answer is by all these kids playing the xbox is just following the bandwagon (expression) do what she wants to do. don't just follow the crowd.  just because xbox or ps3 is betrayed as normal don't be to say it is or it's right. playing video games and killing people may be normal BUT SHOULD IT BE NORMAL !!!

  6. This stage is almost like potty training. Do you see her in a diaper at 33?

This is probably just something she's going through. She'll be in high school soon. When she sees that the other girls don't have Barbies in their hands she'll eventually stop playing with them.

  7. my neighbor is 14 and as far as i know she still plays bratz and polly pockets.  she will grow out of it eventually.

maybe you should take this as a [good] sign that your daughter doesnt care what other people think.  this could be usefull later in life

    good luck♥

  8. i wouldnt be worried if she is playing dolls..would you rather her have s*x and get in more troublee..

gosh u should be happy you actually have a normal thirteen year old that is in no hurry to grow up.

  9. im 14 and still play with them when i get bored hahah

  10. OMG.IF SHE WANTS TO PLAY WITH THEM LET HER.SHE PROBABLY HAS A LOT OF STRESS AND THAT COULD TAKE IT OFF OF HER GOSH

  11. I was ten. I only stopped because none of my friends played with them anymore.

  12. It very normal, it okay basically. For one thing you said she was a huge tomboy this show her girly side. And it also show that she want to reconnet with her childhood. She might not want to give it up. Plus There are other things she could be doing when she bored.

  13. I quit playing because of peer-pressure. If it wasn't because I cared about what people thought about me, whether it was my mom or my friends, I would still probably play with them.

In fact, stopping playing with them hurt my development more than it helped it. It was same reason why I stopped using a teddy bear. Shame and caring about what other people thought about me.

It controls almost every adult and teens life!

AKA, MOST girls that stopped playing with dolls, stopped for the wrong reason. They stopped because what people "think" controls them and not because they sincerely don't like them anymore.

  14. Let her be herself and play with dolls. At least you know she's in her room playing with dolls instead of doing things you wouldn't want her to do. I know a girl who still plays with dolls at 19. It shouldn't be a problem unless dolls and barbies gets in the way of her social and acidemic life.

  15. From my experience, I know that I played with dolls until last year. I felt like I was being pressured to hard to grow up and me and I few friends would secretly dress up her dolls but rarely played a game because we just did not have that kind of an imagination anymore!

  16. i'm 18 and i still play with dolls occasionally.. its no big deal.

  17. I can't remember when I stopped playing barbies...I was probably 13 but I can tell you it hurt like h**l to give them up!! I'm now a mother of 2 beautiful boys and looking forward to a little girl of my own to play barbies with again!! If not, I always have my 3 nieces and little sister-in-law to play with! I'm still a little kid at heart.

  18. I do dress up games online so I guess there isnt that much of a difference. and I'm 14.

  19. Totally normal- let her do her thing... who cares? don't do anything, just leave her alone, when she doesn't want to play with them anymore, she'll put them away.

i'm 14 and I still like to play with my barbies about... once a monthish. It's fun to just drop everything and forget about the world, it takes off a ton of pressure just to pretend like i'm four again.

so chill, it's totally fine- she's probably venting stress. :)

  20. Let her be.  There are a lot worse thing she could be doing.

  21. congratulations.  you have a very normal, healthy girl.  ohhh...to be young again, i say with a sigh.  let her play and stop wondering mom.

  22. i was like 11, and im now 14 and i still know people my age who play with dolls still, and almost all of my friends feel bad when someone throws a stuffed animal or somthing like that, its too normal

  23. im 13 to and stopped playing with dolls in like yrs 3-4 but barbies are vintage and cool

dont worry so, i gave my friend a barbie for her birthday its fine

    plz help:

  24. That's strange. I'm thirteen, and I was such a tomboy in like second and third grades that I cut my hair wayy short and wore tighty whiteys. yeah. So I never really got into barbies ever and maybe you should just find something else for her to do in her spare time, like an XBOX 360 with RockBand or a sport to play or something like that. :)

  25. I was 12. haha I moved on to video games instead.

Edit: Omg I totally agree with Brittney! That's why I stopped and sometimes I miss them. lol

  26. It's very normal.. just let her play with her dolls and she will let go when she's ready.

  27. My sister is 12 and she plays on the Sims.

I think that in essence it is the same thing. It's a role playing game and you can create relationships and stories etc.

It's really just a way to learn about people and human interaction and it is really quite normal.

  28. I honestly don't see the problem. Your daughter is normal. Completely. I also hate it when people think that just because your kids still play with dolls and barbies means that they aren't ready to date yet because 13 is also around the age to start dating. anyway, I hope you let your daughter play with them. because when they don't feel like playing anymore is when they are too old for it. Good luck!

  29. I played with dolls until I was 13 too. I had plenty of friends and was never very girly, but I loved baby dolls. Then one day I just didn't care for them anymore. One day she will just be over them. It is completely normal.  You shouldn't do anything just give her time and she will find something new that interests her.
